This weeks Hosts: Dan Fellars
This weeks Segments:
Round The Bases –

Meet the Experts –

Meet Leslie Burke.

I worked in Product Management for a software company out of college then in Sales Operations for a company leading up to their acquisition by Salesforce. When I had kids, I stepped out of that and did a few random things (selling locally grown baby food at the downtown Indy farmers market! Treasurer of a preschool!) and then helped my husband when he started a software business. Then in January 2022, a former co-worker asked if I would help him create a custom guest management and reservation system using Airtable for a dude ranch. That was the beginning of LassoBook. I continue run the day-to-day of LassoBook while also consulting independently on Airtable projects.

Base Showcase –

We dive into a full working base that will Leslie shares an Airtable app called Guestbook which can be used to manage a set of rental properties. As part of that, she uses Fillout to create the invoices using their Stripe payment option, which is an alternative to building a Stripe integration using scripts or Zapier/Make.

Field Focus –

A deep dive into the Dependency Fields Dates – Airtable recently announced new Date Dependency functionality we will explore.

[S17-E06] Full Podcast Summary for 02-13-2024 – AI Base Generator; Conditional Logic in Interfaces

Season 17 Episode 6
This weeks Hosts: Alli AlosaKamille ParksDan Fellars
This weeks Segments:
Round The Bases –

Meet the Experts –

Meet Tom Halloran from No Code Paradigm.

Hi there, I’m an indie Airtable / NoCode consultant. Over the past few months (on the side) I’ve developed a tool that helps consultants sell Airtable to clients who are unfamiliar with it and are unsure of it’s value My tool is called BaseMaker, and it uses Generative AI to rapidly generate dummy data to fit with any client project. It allows the consultant to ‘bring Airtable to life’ by populating a prototype Base with believable, realistic dummy data in minutes e.g. you have a construction company wanting to manage their construction staff, projects and materials. You build them a quick prototype base (don’t use AI for this) Basemaker then takes the background info about the client and any specific requirements you have (e.g. size or duration of typical construction projects for this firm) to generate realistic, client-tailored dummy data. Data is pushed to Airtable via API There is automatic linking of data across tables, so e.g. the construction staff data is automatically linked to the construction projects table – simulating how they would be assigned to projects. All of this lets you put together a very high-fidelity, realistic demo (inc. interfaces, views, graphs etc) for a prospective client in no time. It let’s them see and imagine what it would actually be like for them to have an Airtable system running in their company or departmentI used it for a project I did in London a couple of months ago, many of the images you see were developed using data from Basemaker: https://gravel-mahogany-461.notion.site/Architecture-Firm-NoCode-System-Design-1b9b81f119cf448cb1c5cc97d574d14b?pvs=4

Automate Create –

Meet the Creators –

Meet Mike San Marzano from Aeropage.

I’m most passionate about making cool stuff, and technology, and everything I do pretty much involves both. I started with automations and tools in the early 2000s working in Architectural studios, writing scripts and building custom tools to speed up the drafting and documentation processes. After about 10 years that become boring so I shifted to web development with a big focus on data driven websites, but the tools available were pretty tedious so I was always looking for ways to make it easier and faster. I started with Zapier very early and eventually discovered Airtable- then I immediately started replacing my databases with it via API connections. After a while I figured my tools might make a good product, so I showed them at Chris Dancy’s Airtable conference in (2019?) and through that an enterprise reached out to me to ask about how it was going. I hired some developers and built a ‘proper’ product, which they signed on for a few years before they decided to move away from Airtable. Now after almost four years its (almost!) ready.
